Things to do in Platja D Aro

Platja D Aro

A beautiful sun drenched location with endless sands, a nearby medieval town dripping with charm and shaded narrow streets, and a stylish selection of bars and restaurants all describe Platja d'Aro in Spain's Costa Brava. The resort has well and truly moved on from the fish and chip shop Blackpool in the sun days of this part of Spain, and has a somewhat more classy feel than some resorts. A mere 40 minutes from Girona and lying near main transport routes makes Platja d'Aro the ideal location for your family holiday this summer.

Beaches and beyond

An endless strip of sand and hidden coves nicely tucked away allow for plenty of places to find yourself a spot on the beach. Popular with Catalans and visitors alike, the 2km beach has all the usual gamut of water sport activities including diving schools. You can also catch a water taxi during summer months for a slight change of scenery and head out to Sant Feliu de Guíxols and Tossa de Mar with its magnificent sunsets. More secluded coves and hideaways are waiting to be discovered either side of the Patja Gran beach.

Beyond the beach there are opportunities to try out some horse riding up in the idyllic hills or get out your walking boots and take a hike amidst this delightful natural setting. Maybe you prefer cycling? The area also makes for an enjoyable bike ride. Or maybe walking amidst some Roman ruins is more to your liking. Golf lovers will love the elevated position of the Golf d'Aro with its stunning views over Platja d'Aro and out across the sea. Another alternative to the beach are the nearby water parks, namely, Aquadiver and Magic Park, both offering a fun day out for all the family. There is plenty to do in and around Platja d'Aro.
