Things to do in Agadir

Agadir

Sun drenched Agadir is an exotic beach holiday destination that has everything a sun worshiper is after - endless sandy beaches, all inclusive resorts, and warm temperatures. A favourite summer and winter beach destination, Agadir is well suited for adventurers as well. It’s well within striking distance of the Sahara Desert, Atlas Mountains, and lively Marrakech. With all this and more, it’s no wonder that Agadir is Morocco's top beach resort destination.

Things to see and do in Agadir

Agadir is a modern beach resort city with modern amenities, but also isn’t without charm and cultural heritage. The city’s main beach stretches for 10 kilometres and features soft, golden sand. Sun beds are widely available, and cafes and restaurants are just a short walk away.

Take a stroll along the city’s beautiful promenade to soak in the ambience. Located right along the beach, the views from here are unbeatable and the area is filled with low-priced eateries and cafes. Catering to holidaymakers, Agadir also has plenty of spas to indulge in and several major golf courses surrounding the city. Shoppers won’t want to miss the city’s Souk El Had, which has over 3,000 stalls selling everything from leather goods to souvenirs and clothing.

Agadir may not have the nightlife of Ibiza, but there are plenty of excellent restaurants in town to sample. The tagine here is not to be missed, as the origin of the dish is largely credited to the Berber people who make up a majority of the population in the city.

Just outside Agadir, visitors can enjoy the beauty and splendour of the Atlas Mountains or the Sahara Desert on any number of organised excursions. The beautiful Souss-Massa National Park, located on the coastline just south of Agadir, is an ideal place to experience Morocco’s varied landscapes and wildlife. It’s also possible to take a trip to ancient Marrakech for a day of exploration and sightseeing.

On Holiday in Agadir

As a proper beach resort town, Agadir has a wide range of resorts and hotels available within a moment’s walk from the water. Just as ideal for long luxury holidays as it is for short breaks, Agadir has become known for its cheap holiday packages that offer more for your money compared to holiday destinations in Europe.

A trip to Agadir is the perfect remedy for the winter blues, as it offers plenty of sunshine and magnificent weather even in the heart of winter. In addition to lounging and relaxing near the water all year, it’s also possible to snorkel and surf in the area. Nearby Imsouane Bay and Devils Rock are popular surfing spots. At just a 3.5-hour flight from the UK, you could easily find yourself riding a camel along Agadir’s stunning Taghazout Beach in 20ºC weather in the middle of January after deciding to book a last minute holiday.

Weather

Few places in the world can boast better weather than Agadir. Its coastal location protects it from the extreme heat that can be experienced in places like Morocco, but it stays comfortably warm all year. High temperatures do not stray far from 20ºC, peaking at 25ºC in the summer months, so you can leave the jumpers at home. Rain is almost unheard of from May through August, and it only occurs 2-6 days out of the month on average in the remaining months. Agadir also enjoys an incredible 10 hours of sunshine in the winter, and 14 glorious hours of sun in the summer.
